Mark Lindsay ...

was the lead singer of the 1960s group, Paul Revere and the Raiders

In the summer of 1962, the Raiders were signed to Columbia Records who signed them after hearing their recording of "Louie Louie." The Kingsmen released the record at the same time and their version became the most popular - indeed, it was an anthem of rock and roll.

The Raiders had a string of top 10 hits starting in 1966, which included:

"Kicks" (Billboard Pop Chart #4)

 "Hungry" (#6)

"Him or Me - What's It Gonna Be?" (#5)

"Indian Reservation (The Lament Of The Cherokee Reservation Indian)" (#1)

Here is Mark now singing "Kicks" and also "I'm Not Your Stepping Stone" with Micky Dolenz of the Monkees.  This song was covered by the Sex Pistols and the Monkees (who also latered covered "Kicks.")  As Dolenz points out in the video, the Monkees had the biggest hit with Stepping Stone.
